Miss Lydia Wairimu Waruguru Kibara has sued her former employer MUA Kenya Insurance limited for falsely accusing her of embezzling sh 1.6 billion when she was at the helm.
In a case filed at the Milimani law courts, she denies wrong doing.
Court papers indicate that on 23rd September 2025, the Daily Newspaper carried a story alleging that the cash was lost during her tenure.
She said this is in breach of a separation agreement signed between her and the company in 2024.
Miss Wairimu says the comments are meant to disparage her and defame her character.
The court papers indicate that she has served as a senior insurance officer with several firms for the last 30 years.
She begun her job at Jubilee Insurance before moving to Sahan which merged with a Mauritius based insurance company and formed MUA Kenya Insurance Limited.
She served the company as the CEO until 2024.
The court heard that she parted ways with the company after a mutual agreement.
“She has been diligent, forthright in her dealings and discharged her responsibilities well,”said her lawyers led by Danstani Omari.
The lawyers said clouse 10 of the separation agreement required that none of the parties will spite each others characters after parting ways.
The lawyers have written a demand to the Mauritius based firm and the local daily which they claimed is associated with the Daily Nation.
